Write here any interesting parallels between Tolkien's works and other stuff.
I lately happened to read "The Songs of Ossian" by James McPherson. The name itself connected automatically to Ossiriand in Lord of the Rings. While reading, I discovered a heroe called Fingal, wich very much reminded the names of the Elven High Kings: Fingon, Finduilas ect.
Now, at the time when Tolkien lived, many believed that "The Songs of Ossian" were not invented by the writer, but he had only translated it from ancient Gaelic (the characters where of the legends of the ancient Irish). We know that Tolkien had a great interest in Irish mythology since his early childhood. Parallels? What do you guys think?
