"Lower your sword, friend," said a deep voice. "I mean you no harm." A figure stepped out of the bushes. Kyu saw that it was a cloaked man who was holding a long staff. "What brings you to our lands? Explain your intent!" he said.

Kyu put his blade away, but kept a suspicious eye on the figure. "My clan recieved a call for help from the Druid keep. Are you the master of the keep? And I will test to know the truth. If you are, you can tell me what is the item given to the Doshuribu clan for it's help in the Blood Fued Wars?"

"Alas," said the figure. "All who knew the answer to your question are dead." And he stepped out of the shadow so that the Daemon could see him. Kyu was surprised to see that it was only a young boy with blond hair and a long white robe. The youngster's eyes were deep and colorless, that is, every time Kyu looked in them, he saw a different colour. "I am Beryll, the last Druid," the boy said, and his voice still seemed to belong to an old man. "My brethren were all slain in the massive attack. I alone survived, for I was away in a foreign country. Still, I cannot answer your question, so I understand if you don't trust me. These are perilous times. But I have no where else to go. I am at your mercy, traveller, whoever you are." The boy crossed his hands calmly, observing Kyu with his strange eyes...

Kyu crossed his arms over his chest. "You speak truly, for I do not trust you. But, I would wish to know the story behind your eyes, young master."

The Druid smiled. "The ones who touch the Holy Waters have these eyes. It is the symbol of purity. I couldn't lie, even if I wanted to. Some Druids don't touch the Water - they are used as spies and they have to lie sometimes. But if you don't believe me anyway, you won't believe this story either."

Kyu smiled. "I know of these waters. And you have now gained my trust. Tell me what happened to the other Druids of this realm."

"They were slain," said the Druid sadly. "Large hords of mysterious monsters came and stormed through the Woods. Why tried to resist, but they set the trees into fire and killed the beasts for fun. Our spells were too weak against them. They seem to have appeared out of thin air. We have no record written down about them, except one. About twenty thousand years ago a strange beast was seen in the northern part of the Woods. It looked much like a hound, except that it was able to run on two legs. It was very shadow-like and hard to notice, and moved fast. It had black or dark grey skin and red evil eyes. Our ancestors called it a Void Beast." The boy sighed again. "They have left now. I am sure of this. But where to, I cannot tell. They will return, I can feel it."

Kyu looked up, fires alit in his eyes. "Void beasts?" he said, spitting the name out as a curse. "I know of these beings. They are very troublesome, even on their own plane of existance."

"If you are willing to help," said Beryll, "go and find aid. I am sure the southern people and maybe the eastern tribes of the Quicksand People are willing to help. I myself have to stay here and guard the Woods and the Shrine. Do make haste, I beg you."

Kyu smiled, and looked into those strange eyes. "I know just who to ask for help."

Iorlas sat on a treebranch and looked down on the small footpath running through the trees. It was his turn to keep watch. He was feeling bored, as nothing occured, and was just going to fell asleep in this truly hot and sunny afternoon when he suddenly heard someone's familiar footsteps on the track. It was no ranger, he was sure; the steps were much harder and heavier...

Kyu walked up in front of the tree. "Hello, friend Iorlas!" he called. "Mind if I join you?"

"May you find all that you seek," said Iorlas, glad to see a friend. "You're back very soon. What news from the north?"

Kyu sighed. "Troubling news. The Druids have been slaughtered and I am charged with helping avenge them. Would you like to join me on this quest?"

Iorlas seemed shocked by the news. "Sure I will help," he said in a while. "But I don't know how much of my kin will assist. They do not wish to interfer with the Druids anymore. I can try and persuade them, though..."
