The man looked indignant. "I am most certainly not an assasin! I wish to see him dead for my own reasons, not anybody elses!"

Kyu pressed both blades in harder, but did not break the skin. "Your reasons better be just."

"Listen," said Iorlas. "I tire of this conversation. Will you tell us what you're up to, or we'll start using violence, although I wouldn't like that option."

The man sighed. "Very well, I'll tell you. I was a soldier once, many years ago. Fought in the western wars, along with the man I'm here to kill. He was a good friend of mine, I had known him from our early childhood. I was the captain of a band that was sent behind enemy lines to reclaim a captured keep which was of little strategic importance, but had sentimental value to the general. We captured the keep, and sent my friend back to headquarters to send in reinforcements to releave us. On his way back he was captured, and being the coward that he is, told his captors of our taking of the keep, and that we were few in number, weary and had little supplies. In exchange, they released him, if he agreed never to fight against thier people ever again. This didn't prove to be a great inconvenience to him. The enemy sent a dozen mounted soldiers and wiped out everyone else. I managed to survive, and was captured and sent to a military prison, where I was kept for three years, when our forces took the prison from the enemy. When I was taken back to the capital I was accused of having been responsible for the deaths of my men. I was tried in the courts, and sentenced to ten years in the labour camps. That is what has brought me here. I have come to have my vengeance. I stumbled upon you two as I passed by, and was hoping that you might lead me to the village where he is residing currently. I can see now that you'll be of little help to me. Now I've told you my business, and I shall be leaving." He stood up...

Iorlas stepped aside and lowered his bow. "In this case you are free to go," he said. "Go and find your vengeance. The Clan is not here to keep peace. But I warn you however, if the man you wish to murder is a member of the Clan, he HAS to be brought before Clan Court and convicted there. If you kill him without seeking the council of our Elders, the Green Clan will be forced to hunt you down. If he really is one of us, that's excactly what he counts on. You have been warned. Go! We have other important business to attend to."

"Yes, very well.", the man started walking down the dirt path, "I'll abide by your clans laws,", he said behind his back as he walked away,", he turned, "as long as they let me kill him when they've tried and convicted him."

Kyu put his blades away and rested his arms across his chest. "If the blasted rangers ever thought souch things it would be a cold day in hell."

The man looked agast. "What!", he cried out in shock, "Well, you can forget about this bringing him before the court!" The man ran eastwards.

"Nice and smooth,Kyu," said Iorlas. "Now he just goes in and murderes this man. We must see to it if the victim is a Clan member, and before this dude reaches him. Come with me. You have messed up with your arrogant words, now help me fix it."
He took off by a short cut, a secret forest path that only the Rangers knew of, and invited Kyu to follow him...

Kyu disappeared and then reappeared in front of Iorlas, with the man in a bag and tied up. "There. Problem solved the daemon way."

Problem was, it was the wrong man. The poor old beggar howled in discomfort as he struggled to get out of the sack.

"You sure are delicate," said Iorlas. "Put this man down NOW. Our laws do not allow this. He has committed no crime. We will make it to the village before him and make things clear, OK? And then we will go and help the druids. Let's get this over with, come on. And put that sack down."

Kyu threw the man aside, then put the sack in a puch. "It's my mother's sack, I am not giving it up. It's a sack of holding."

By the time they got to the village it was already nightfall. Iorlas went to the tavern and changed a few words with the patrons while Kyu waited outside - the Daemon's relations with the Elves were not excellently good.
"The man has passed," said Iorlas when he came back outside. "The bartender said he would be heading for someone we call Greenshadows. He does belong to the Guild. Come now, he is about 15 minutes ahead. Let's make haste!"
They disappeared into the night like ghosts...
